About Us

Katoomba Veterinary Hospital came into existance in 1977 and has been situated at its current location of 59 Waratah street for over 30 years. During this period it has provided veterinary services to the  upper Blue Mountains communities including Leura, Katoomba and Medlow bath. Currently the clinic is owned and run by locals Nina and Rhys Sweaney, Merin Foran and Michele Plessnitzer. They are supported by a well trained staff made up of experienced veterinarians and nurses, many of whom are long term employees of the practice.

Along with providing a comprehensive veterinary service to local pet owners we also engage with a number of community groups and organisations. This includes providing veterinary services to the Katoomba branch of the RSPCA and the Blue Mountains branch of WIRES as well as liaising with the local council to aid in the return of stray animals. The Hospital also makes a direct contribution to the carbon neutral scheme affiliated with the Men of the Trees charity organisation.
